For all of its charitable work in the Columbus area, Swan Cleaners was named the winner of 2003 Meritorious Service Award in the category of "Industry Positive Recognition Award" by the International Fabricare Institute (IFI) on Monday, August 11 at the IFI's National Convention.
 This national award is given to the group that provided a positive image to the dry cleaning and laundry industry through its close work with the media in the promotion of charitable events throughout the year.
Highlights of this past year include Swan Cleaners' involvement with Coats For Kids, Ohio Governor's Office Flag Pressing and the Ohio State Fair's Sale of Champions.
This winter, over 10,000 coats were collected, cleaned and distributed to central Ohio families free of charge as part of the Coats For Kids program. Over the last 16 years, well over 160,000 coats have been collected, cleaned and distributed.
Last fall, at the request of Ohio Governor Bob Taft, Swan pressed 3,000 flags for Ohio's September 11th Memorial Ceremony free of charge. Annually, thousands of American and State of Ohio flags are cleaned and pressed at no cost to anyone requesting the service. Swan has cleaned everything from historic flags through the largest flag in Ohio.
For the third year in a row, Swan purchased a champion animal at the Ohio State Fair's Sale of Champions. Proceeds benefit the Ohio State Fair Youth Reserve program.
In addition, Swan Cleaners has worked with the Ronald McDonald House, Homeless Families Foundation and countless other local charities through monetary and in-kind donations. |
